Top 5 Run-Getters for India in World Cup History

Sachin Tendulkar

All the big records are achieved by Indian batters, whether it be the most runs in international cricket, most centuries, or most sixes in international cricket. There is no record left that Indian batters have not achieved in batting. India has produced the most great batters of the game, from Sunil Gavaskar to young batting sensation Shubman Gill. In the World Cup, Indian batters also displayed their brilliance with their bats. On that note, we have a list of the top scorers for India in World Cup history.

Here is a list of the top five run-getters for India in World Cup history.

Sachin Tendulkar

When you talk about the perfect batter of all time, the only name that comes to mind is the great Sachin Tendulkar. He has a record book of batting in his pocket, and he has scored more runs for India in World Cup history. He has played a total of five mega events, which is the most by any Indian player. He played 45 matches in the World Cup and scored 2278 runs at an average of 56.9 with six centuries and 15 half centuries.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharm is the second player on our list because he has the second most runs for India in a mega event. He played in 2015, 2019, and the 2023 edition for India. He is in second place with 1195 runs at an average of 66.38 with seven centuries, which is the most by any player, and four half centuries. In the last edition, he scored over 600 runs, with five hundred in the tournament. Rohit Sharma’s strike is over 100.

Virat Kohli

The modern master is also on the list at number three with 1186 runs. He has been averaging over 49 with two centuries and eight half centuries. These numbers look ordinary because of the standard he has in international cricket. This time he has started well with two half centuries in a row, hoping he can lead the runs leader board.

Sourav Ganguly

The former India skipper Sourav Ganguly is also placed in the list at number four with 1006 runs in 21 innings and four and a half centuries at an average of 55.88. He appeared in World Cups three times for India, and he played an important role for India at the top of the order.

Rahul Dravid

The wall of India cricket is at number five on the list. He also played in three World Cups for India and scored 860 runs for the team. He has scored two centuries and six half centuries; his average is 61.42, which is second best for India in mega events.
