Coolie in 2025
Coolie in 2025 sees director Lokesh Kanagaraj and producer Kalanithi Maran, via Sun Pictures, present an action thriller. We see Superstar Rajinikanth as the lead man with a great ensemble that includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj. Also, we have special guest appearances by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde. The film came out in theaters on August 14, 2025.
Coolie Movie Story
In the story, what we see is Deva which is played by Rajinikanth, a former coolie union leader who has left his violent past behind. He, at present, runs a home in Chennai for young men. But that peace in his life is disturbed after the death of his close friend Rajasekar, which is very much out of the blue.
While in pursuit of the truth that led to his friend’s death, Deva is brought into contact with a powerful criminal organization. He is put in the path of Simon, a well-off and dangerous businessman, which Nagarjuna plays. As Deva dives deeper into the criminal world, his past, which he tried to put behind him, comes back to haunt him.
Coolie Cast
The film has an impressive cast. Rajinikanth takes on the role of Deva, and Nagarjuna is in as for the character of Simon. Upendra does the part of Kaleesha, and Soubin Shahir is to play that of Dayal. Also featured is Shruti Haasan, who is the daughter of Rajasekar, which we see in the film; also in it is — which I think may be a mistake, probably should read as Sathyaraj that does the screen time as Rajasekar. Also, a special mention is made of Aamir Khan’s appearance as the character of Dahaa and of Pooja Hegde, who is as Monica.
Music and Songs
The music for Coolie was done by Anirudh Ravichander, which is another in a series of his works with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The soundtrack has eight tracks, including the hits “Chikitu”, “Monica”, and “Powerhouse”. Also, the songs were put out before the film, which in turn created great fan interest prior to the theater release.
Release and Reception
Coolie went worldwide on August 14, 2025. With what it had of Rajinikanth’s screen presence, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action-oriented filmmaking, and Anirudh’s peppy music, the film became one of the year’s major Tamil releases. It also later came to be available on Prime Video.
Overall Coolie is an energetic action thriller which features crime, friendship, revenge, and mystery as well as a great ensemble cast.
