Step By Step Guide To Apply Makeup On Your Face
If the step-by-step instructions in a makeup video you saw on YouTube or a beauty tip you used on TikTok looked really difficult, you are not alone. What happened to reviewing the fundamentals with beginners? The most epic eyelid decorations, wings, and negative-space eyeliner are all the rage right now.
This step-by-step tutorial is for you, if you have a bathroom drawer full of beauty products and want to learn how to apply them flawlessly.
1. Apply moisturiser first
It's crucial to moisturise both morning and night, regardless of whether you have dry, oily, or combined skin. You should also never skip applying sunscreen in the morning. Before using moisturiser, we advise using your cleanser and toner (particularly necessary at night!). After that, rub your skin gently to relieve tension.
2. Apply the primer you bought
While a makeup primer isn't always necessary, it truly can help keep your makeup in place, especially on a busy or heated day. A good primer will enable your makeup to stay in place and look uniform over your face, meaning that it won't crease or settle on the surface of your skin in regions where your skin is dry, such as the T-zone, and won't separate in parts where your skin is oily.
Look for a hydrating makeup primer if you have dry skin, and go for an oil-absorbing or pore-blurring primer if you have oily skin.
3. Use the Foundation as a base
Depending on your comfort level, you may apply foundation using your fingers, a beauty sponge, or a foundation brush. Blend your foundation with a synthetic brush for a look that is more full-coverage. However, if you want a delicate appearance, just use your fingertips.
4. Hide the areas with concealor
Similar to foundation, concealer may be applied with your fingers, a beauty blender, or a cosmetic brush (note: a brush will give you a more full-coverage makeup appearance). Nevertheless, a little concealer goes a long way. To mask dark circles, dab concealer around your eyes, starting little and adding more as necessary. On the sensitive skin around the eyes, concealer can become quite cake-y, so use carefully. Apply a little to any red or blemishes patches and wait a few minutes for the makeup to dry before adding any kind of powder on top.
5. Restore some colour to your face
Bronzer is a game changer since it can be used to contour or just add a quick burst of warmth to make you seem like you just returned from a beach vacation. You should only put it where the sun would naturally tan your face when using a contour to shape your cheekbones and jaw. Pay attention to your hairline, nasal bridge, and high points of your cheekbones. Make sure not to pick a colour that is too dark for your skin tone since contour should resemble the colour of the shadow on your skin.
We advise using the continuous "3 shape" technique when applying classic bronzer. Start at the forehead, sweep under the cheekbone, go backwards towards the hairline, and then work down towards the jaw on the outside edge of the face. Tap off any extra powder from the brush. Then, make sweeping motions around the jawline, which simultaneously enhance warmth and improve the bone structure. To get the sculpting effects, pick a tapered (as opposed to rounder) brush that is still quite fluffy.
Apply blush next, utilising the current craze for draping, after bronzer. Don't limit your blush to simply the apples of your cheeks. It gives the face added depth and an appearance that is highly vibrant, creating a true flash of colour. Start at the apple of the cheek and move the brush upward in a teardrop pattern towards the hairline. Cream, gel, liquid, and powder blushes all look stunning when applied with this draping method.
Use a soft makeup sponge for gel and liquid blush, and a soft, fluffy cheek brush for powder blush for a natural-looking finish.
6. Highlight those areas
Without highlighter, a makeup look is incomplete. You may choose between a swipe that is so dazzling it can be seen from space and a simple, natural-looking glow. You may use highlighter to draw emphasis to areas like your cheekbones or even your clavicles. On YouTube, the tip-of-the-nose highlight is popular because it appears so dramatic. Slay it.
7. Try Different Eyeshadow Looks
Although there are many methods to apply eyeshadow, there are a few fundamentals to keep in mind. As your base colour, use light hues that go well with your skin tone. Darker colour curves the eye and gives it form and definition. Shades in between are used to help the lids blend the two colours together.
The shimmer, too? To make your eyes appear large and dazzling, add it to the inner corners of your eyes.
8. Use Eyeliner to Define Your Eyes
Eyeliner is a personal preference, and some people only use it on rare occasions. But for those times when the mood strikes, it's always good to have a simple black liner in your makeup bag. A pencil eyeliner may be used to add depth and drama to eyeshadow. To make a larger lash foundation, it can be dabbed in spots in between the lashes. Of course, a crisp or smeared liner may be used to define the area around the eyes.
9. Apply mascara with a swipe
Typically, makeup experts use mascara in a slightly different way than the rest of us. If you often just pile it on, try this tip: curl the lashes first, then wiggle the mascara from the root to the ends. The result is a thick, black lash line at the lash root.
10. Lip Lining
Lip contouring using lip liner can also extend the wear of your lipstick. The remainder of the lips should then be softly shaded in after lining the lips to contour. Lipstick added on top gives lips a plumping 3D appearance. In addition, rather than bare lips showing through when the lipstick fades, the liner does.
11. Implement a lip gloss and lipstick
What matters most in this case is the sequence of the lip cosmetics. Lip liner, lipstick, and lip gloss are applied in that order. We advise you to line your lips first before filling them in with lipstick, either straight from the bullet or with a lip brush.
Add lip gloss to the top, in the middle, for a fuller pout. And apply lipgloss all over the lips for a more laid-back look.
12. Set up your look
After all that effort, setting powder, setting spray, or both are recommended to keep your makeup appearing perfect all day. Depending on your skin type and how long you need your makeup to last, you should use a different formula. Setting spray is an excellent alternative to powder if you want your skin to seem less matte and more natural.
