Sumaira Shaikh
Sumairah Shaikh is an Indian stand-up comedian, writer, and performer of sharp observational humor and distinctive storytelling. From Mumbai’s Dongri background, she has built a career in stand-up comedy, television, web series, and content writing. What makes her story unique is that she first studied psychology and at one point was into the idea of a counseling career before she chose comedy, which became her profession.

Sumaira Shaikh was born in Mumbai and brought up in Dongri. It is reported that she was born in 1994 or 1995, which didn’t quite cement from public reports. She is a psychology grad and also talked about how she used to be a quiet and very observant type of person in school. What grew out of her experience in Mumbai did, however, become very important in the development of her comedy.

Sumaira started at open mic events, which is where she began her foray into comedy; also at the same time, she was a part of the comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB). Also, she was a writer for Son of Abish. Her career took off when she worked with comedian and writer Sumukhi Suresh on projects which included Pushpavalli and Beauty and the Feast. Also, she was script supervisor for Sumukhi Suresh’s YouTube series Behti Naak.
In 2022 saw the release of a big achievement in her career, which was her stand-up special, Dongri Danger, which went out on Amazon Prime. Also, she has been a part of shows like One Mic Stand and Comedy Premium League. In 2026, she took part in The 50 reality show.

Sumaira has been very private about her family and personal life, which is mostly out of the public eye. While her public profiles do talk of her very close tie with her family, which includes her mother and her mother’s cooking. Also reported is that in 2017 she lost her brother.
