Cricket West Indies (CWI) introduced the Global Super League (GSL) in 2024 with the aim of creating a high-profile T20 competition featuring successful franchise teams from different parts of the world. The tournament is staged in Guyana and follows a concept somewhat reminiscent of the former Champions League T20, where leading teams from various domestic franchise competitions competed on an international platform.
The GSL brings together the Guyana Amazon Warriors and four invited teams from other franchise leagues. This format allows supporters to watch some of the best T20 players and teams competing outside their usual domestic tournaments.
Since its launch, the competition has already produced several memorable finals. Here is a season-by-season look at the GSL champions and runners-up.
Global Super League Winners List

Season Champions Runners-up
2024 Rangpur Riders (Nurul Hasan) Victoria (Corey Anderson)
2025 Guyana Amazon Warriors (Imran Tahir) Rangpur Riders (Nurul Hasan)
2026 Guyana Amazon Warriors (Imran Tahir) San Francisco Unicorns (Hassan Khan)
2024 – Rangpur Riders
The first-ever edition of the Global Super League ended with Rangpur Riders lifting the inaugural trophy. The Bangladesh-based franchise faced Australia’s Victoria in the final.
Rangpur chose to bat first and produced a commanding total of 178/3. Their innings was built around two important contributions. Soumya Sarkar played an aggressive knock of 86, while Steven Taylor added 68 to give the Riders a strong platform.
Victoria never managed to build the same momentum during their chase. Joe Clarke offered some resistance with a 40-run innings, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled against Rangpur’s bowling attack. Victoria were eventually dismissed for 122, giving Rangpur Riders a convincing 56-run victory and the honour of becoming the first GSL champions.
2025 – Guyana Amazon Warriors

The second season saw Rangpur Riders return to the final, but they faced a much tougher challenge from the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Playing in front of their home supporters, the Amazon Warriors posted an imposing 196/4 after opting to bat. Johnson Charles and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were the main contributors, scoring 67 and 66 respectively. Romario Shepherd then provided a late surge with an unbeaten 28 from only nine deliveries.
Rangpur’s chase got off to a poor start as they slipped to 29/3. Saif Hassan and Iftikhar Ahmed attempted to rebuild the innings, scoring 41 and 46 respectively, but the required run rate remained beyond their reach. Rangpur were eventually bowled out for 164, handing Guyana a 32-run victory and their first GSL title.
2026 – Guyana Amazon Warriors

The Amazon Warriors successfully defended their crown in 2026, reaching another final and facing the San Francisco Unicorns.
The final initially appeared to be heading in the Unicorns’ favour after Guyana’s batting lineup collapsed dramatically. The hosts lost wickets regularly and found themselves in serious trouble, with their first eight batters contributing very little.
However, the lower order produced an unexpected recovery. Matthew Forde’s 28, Dwaine Pretorius’ unbeaten 17 and captain Imran Tahir’s 11 helped Guyana reach 85, giving their bowlers something to defend.
The Unicorns appeared to have a straightforward chase ahead of them, but Guyana’s bowlers produced a remarkable turnaround. Pretorius and Tahir made important contributions with the ball, while Mohammad Nabi also played a key role. The Unicorns were eventually dismissed for just 79, allowing the Amazon Warriors to secure a dramatic six-run victory.
With back-to-back championships in 2025 and 2026, Guyana Amazon Warriors have emerged as the most successful team in the short history of the Global Super League.
